Game Recap

The Holland Lady Dutch softball team opened district play on Tuesday afternoon with a 5-4 victory over Grand Haven. Mary Fitch singled home Cecelia Villareal in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Holland the victory. Ashton Maloney pitched a complete game for the Dutch, striking out 2 and scattering 6 hits. Mary Fitch and Cecelia Villareal each had two hits in the game to pace the Dutch offense. Grand Haven rallied from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game in the 6th inning. The Dutch opened the scoring in the first inning with an rbi single from Villareal to put Holland up 1-0. Grand Haven took its only lead in the second with a pair of runs to go up 2-1. Holland responded with 3 runs in the home half of the 4th to regain the lead 4-2 . Holland will advance to the second round of district play on Saturday at West Ottawa.
