The Boys Cross Country team ran an excellent race at the MSU Spartan Invitational on Friday. The team finished in 9th place of 41 teams in the Bronze Division. The team was led by Sam Martens’ 17th place finish, time 17:20. This placing also earned Sam, All Invitational honors. Senior Keaton Kontio finished in 42nd place time 17:51, followed by Camden Misiewicz in 57th place time 18:13. The final two scoring runners were Brad Carter in 87th place, time 18:37 and Alberto Castillo in 152nd place, time 19:29. On the day 80% of the boys ran career personal records or seasonal personal record. The Dutch return to action on Wednesday at Ridge Point Church when they host the OK Dual meets. The Girls Cross Country team ran an excellent race at the MSU Spartan Invitational on Friday. The team finished in 16th place of 44 teams in the Bronze Division. The team was led by Jordyn Elders 27th place time. 21:00. By placing 27t, Jordyn was named to the All Invitational team. Fellow Freshman Taylor Conner finished in 54th place, time 21:45, a new career PR. Gabby Ahearn was our next finisher, 107th place, time 22:34. The final two scoring runners were, Elaine Dannaffel in 111th place, time 22:35 and Amelia Van Dyke in 177thnd place, time 23:49. Meet Recap

The Girls Cross Country team defeated Unity Christian 26-33 to start the OK green Conference with a 1-0 record. This was the first dual meet win for the SR, JR and SO on the team. The Dutch were lead by Jordyn Elders’ FR 1st place finish, 23:05. Taylor Conner FR finished 4th, time of 24:06. Taylor ran a great last mile and helped break up Unity’s number 2 & 3 runners with a terrific finishing kick. The Dutch then claimed 6th thru 10th place and this sealed the win for Holland. Gabby Ahearn FR 6th, 25:15, Elaine Danneffel JR 7th, 25:17, Emily Rutledge SR, 8th, 25:56, Amelia Van Dyke JR. 9th, 26:03 and Allison Riley 10th, 26:13. By running a smart race and executing the race plan the ladies were outstanding in the win. The course at Unity is slow and the weather was once again was warm. This resulted in slower times. The Dutch have a quick turn around as they travel to Michigan State University for the Spartan Invitational on Friday September 18th. The Dutch return to conference action next Wednesday, September 23rd at Ridge Point Church. When they host the OK Green Conference.

The Boys Cross Country team record improved to 3-0 with a 24-31 win over Unity Christian. The Dutch were lead by Sam Martens FR, 2nd place 18:56. Keaton Kontio SR finished 4th, 19:33, Brad Carter FR 5th, 19:46, Nick Hoffman SO 6th, Camden Misiewicz FR 7th, 19:52 rounded out the scoring runners for Holland. Meet Recap

Today the Dutch stayed steady. Lots of good golf and confident swings. Each match the Dutch are gaining confidence and experience. The scores are improving greatly. Anna Bosman led the team with 45, Cammy Schaap 55, Annika Gibson 59, Sylvia Cassar and Ally Rasmussen shot 61’s. The top four teams in the conference are strong and the win is coming down to single strokes. Fun and exciting to watch. We will keep you posted as the Lady Dutch continue to improve. That’s the way we roll!

Game Recap

The Holland Dutch won a hard-fought match at Zeeland West on Thursday night 4-2. Jose Penaloza had two goals, while Daniel Arellano and Eduardo Mireles each had a goal and an assist. “I liked the way we played tonight and the way we attacked. I give a lot of credit to the Zeeland West defense, especially their goalkeeper. He made more than a few incredible saves,” said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. “This was a good win for us and we hope to build some momentum in conference play.” Holland is now 4-6-2 and 1-1 in the conference.
