It took an extra day and a venue change but the Lady Dutch took the changes in stride and raced to a fourth place finish at the 2019 OK Green Conference Meet. The rains on Tuesday and Wednesday necesitated a postponement and then a venue change to Byron Center. Holland was lead by Junior Olivia DeGraaf’s 8th place finish in 21:12.54, earing Olivia her first All Conference award. Congratualtion Olivia! Holland’s next four finishers: Sophomore Julia Kooyer, 21:17.89, Freshman Alisa Mason, 21:28.50, Senior Joanne Padron, 21:46.71, Freshman Meredith Walters, 21:51.71, placed 22nd, 25th, 29th & 31st respectively and more importantly with in 34 seconds one another. This tight finish grouping, helped along by career PR’s from Padron & Walters enabled Holland to place fourth an outstanding finish considering Holland entered the meet seeded 7th. The girls improved one place from 2018 and will have four of the top five athletes retunring in 2020. The fourth place finish also moved Holland from 7th in conference standings into a tie for fifth. The future is bright for the Lady Dutch! Holland will race next on Saturday October 26th at Portage West Middle School in the MHSAA Region 3 Championshio Meet We hope you can attend the meet! Go Dutch!!
