The Lady Dutch traveled to Riverview Park for the running of the St Joseph Invitational. On a deceptively warm and humid day the Dutch ran well and finished 5th of 13 teams. A brief explanation of the format of the races at St Joesph. Grades are grouped 9 & 10 and 11 & 12 for both genders and scored with just 2 runners per team as opposed to the typical 5. In the 9 & 10 race Freshman Alisa Mason, 22:03, finished first for the Lady Dutch and 7th overall. Sophomore Julia Kooyer, 22:57, finished 16th overall and second for Holland. Freshman Meredith Walters, 25:03, finished 36th with a PR! Junior Olivia DeGraaf, 21:39, lead the way for the Lady Dutch running a smart, patient and tactical race placing third overall. The was Olivia’s high placed finish in her career. Senior Joanne Padron, 25:01, was the Lady Dutch second scoring runner, placing 36th. Degraaf, Mason and Kooyer earned berths on the All Invitational team.The Lady Dutch will return to racing on Wednesday September 4th, 4:45 on our home course at Ridge Point Church.
