Holland lost a heart breaker on Senior Night in the Dome. The Lady Dutch came out determined to show their improvement. They did just that for the entire game. Holland led 14-11 after the first quarter. They also led 22-19 at the half thanks to a buzzer beater three by Aaliyah Smith just before the break. Down the stretch baskets became a little tougher to come by but the team continued to believe in one another. “Although we came up short, the girls battled and fought for each other tonight. They did not back down and I am so proud of them. This has been a tough season but they just don’t quit. They know that they are building for the future and games like this will help. The whole team stepped up in practice the past couple of days. Even girls who didn’t get as much time tonight played a huge role in getting us prepared to play. Each and everyone one of them should be encouraged by tonight’s effort.” said Coach Telgenhof. Holland was led by Aaliyah Smith with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ellie Zomer added 11 points while Emily Telgenhof added 6. Holland travels to Zeeland West on Monday to begin district play.
